Professor Nodar Grdzelishvili, a well-known expert in the field of economics, presented a report entitled “The causes of socio-economic inequality in the regions of Georgia and the ways to solve them”. He reviewed in detail the systemic factors that hinder the development of today’s regions, presented a complex picture of the current state of the Georgian economy and its individual segments, such as tourism, and showed that only systemic, coordinated, legislative and institutional development will lead to sustainable development. The meeting highlighted several topics to which the thematic meetings of the Commission will be devoted in the near future. The next session will be dedicated to A. Arabuli’s report on the European experience of the highlands development.
