Meeting of the Commission for Ecological Security
On 27 March 2019, the regular meeting of the Commission for Ecological Security at the Presidium of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences was held. The report on the theme “Assessment of geomorphological and geodynamic changes of the Black Sea coast of Georgia and the risk associated with with the development of marine infrastructure” was delivered by the doctoral student of St. Andrew the First Called Georgian University of Patriarchate of Georgia Niko Gaprindashvili.
The speaker presented a scale of ecological sensitivity of the coast, developed on the basis of morphological characteristics of the studied coast and the effects of oil spills. The indexation of Georgia’s shores has been represented using an internationally-approved methodology.
