ON HARMONICITY OF PRODUCT OF HARMONIC FORMS

Presented by Member of the Academy N.Berikashvili, October 21, 2003

ABSTRACT. It is well known that even in classical case (on the Riemannian manifolds) the product of harmonic forms is not harmonic form. In this paper we develop the algebraic and analytical mechanisms according to which the reason this is precisely visible for the harmonic forms on Poisson manifolds. As corollary we allocate the class of harmonic forms which is closed with respect to the exterior product. © 2004 Bull. Georg. Acad. Sci.

Holodiffraction in Biological Systems

Presented by Member of the Academy V. Chavchanidze, February 10, 2004

ABSTRACT. Emission of the body, when induced by electromagnetic field of high frequency (“Kirlian Radiation”), modulates those flows/waves, which are generated naturally or appear in response to various influences upon the organism. The emission of living system’s distal parts reflects the condition of the entire body and produces holodiffractional replicas of its functionally activated and structurally altered internal organs. We have also demonstrated non-local and non-specific character of weak ambient signals’ perception by biological objects. It is affirmed that self-organized field/wave processes are manifested in the form of integral “Holo-informational” system of the whole body, ensuring the systemic features and specificity of biological objects.  © 2004 Bull. Generation of Ultra-Low-Frequency Electromagnetic Planetary Wave Structures in F-Region of the Spherical Ionosphere

Presented by Member of the Academy J. Lominadze, December 23, 2003

ABSTRACT. physical mechanism of generation of the new modes of ultra-low-frequency (ULF) electromagnetic planetary waves in F-region of the spherical ionosphere due to the latitudinal inhomogeneity of the geomagnetic field is suggested. The frequency spectra, phase velocity, wavelength of these perturbations are determined. It is established, that these perturbations are self-localized as nonlinear solitary vortex structures in the ionosphere and moving westward or eastward along the parallels with velocities much higher than the phase velocities of the linear waves. The properties of the wave structures under investigation are very similar to those of low-frequency perturbations observed experimentally in the ionosphere at middle latitudes.

Study of Earthquakes and Atmospheric Processes Connected with them

Presented October 21, 2003

ABSTRACT. Long-standing observations show that earthquakes are not independent phenomena. All earthquakes are followed by complex processes of preparing, which are revealed as the earthquake precursors in most of cases by variation of different geophysical fields.

In order to reveal the possible earthquake precursors for the Caucasus we studied electric field potential gradient perturbations of atmosphere.

Based on the analysis of 1953-1992 data for the earthquakes with  there have been got anomalous perturbations in the potential gradient character changing, which are divided into three categories. Such phenomena were fixed 10 days before the earthquake occurring; they may be considered as earthquake precursor effects. © 2004 Bull. Georg. Acad. Sci.

Influence of Oxygen on base crystals ZnSe treated by RBQE

Presented October 21, 2003

ABSTRACT. We investigated nonimplanted and preliminary oxygen implanted ZnSe monocrystals treated by RBQE. After removing new quasiepitaxial layers of ZnO we studied electrical and luminescence properties of ZnSe basic crystals. According to Thermo-EMF measurement in all cases near-surface layers of ZnSe basis revealed p-type conductivity (r=104-106 Wcm). In the PL spectra of implanted and nonimplanted ZnSe basic crystals treated in identical conditions the bands with maxima at l=480 nm; l=540 nm and l=720 nm were observed. In the PL spectrum of implanted ZnSe new band with maximum at l=628 nm was additionally observed. In our opinion this band must be connected to the existence of oxygen in the crystal, supposedly to (OSe-VZn-).

Alcohol Motivation in the Rats Under Psychogenic Stress Conditions

Presented December 2, 2003

ABSTRACT. The animals studied were divided into two groups. Group I consisted of those animals, which had strong inclination towards alcohol (heavy drinkers). Animals in the II group consumed less alcohol and thus were labeled as moderate drinkers.

When at Stage II of experiments the animals were subjected to elaboration of two different active avoidance responses separately, the heavy drinkers decreased volume of self-administered ethanol, while the moderate drinkers increased alcohol consumption.

The trend to decreased consumption of alcohol was maintained at Stage III of experiments, when the two avoidance responses were unified. Therefore, under conditions of psychogenic stress the heavy drinkers were transformed into the moderate ones, while the moderate drinkers – into the heavy ones. © 2004 Bull. Georg. Acad. Sci.

ABSTRACT. Inositol specific neurolectin  has been isolated from synaptic vesicles of bovine brain (BVL-I). Some physico-chemical properties of BVL-I are investigated. In particular, it was determined that BVL-I lectin is glycoprotein with 10% of total amount of carbohydrates. The lectin  reveals high sensitivity to Ca2+ and Mg2+-ions. This fact  suggests that these ions presumably participate in the implementation of lectin functions. It was determined that BVL-I shows high affinity to the phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylxoline only. Proceeding from the above mentioned results the participation of BVL-I in the process of neuroexocytosis is supposed. © 2004 Bull. Georg. Acad. Sci.

BENDS IN MOUSE SATELLITE DNA

Presented by Member of the Academy T. Beridze, November 25, 2003

ABSTRACT. Mobility of mouse satellite DNA dimer in PAAG at different temperatures has been studied. It was shown that the dimer contains bends and its straightening at the temperature elevation has specific character. The dependence of K factor from temperature has chair-like form: it decreases in the interval 5-250C,  remains unchanged in the interval 25-350C and at 450C decreases to the final value – 1.02. The specific form of the curve can be explained on the basis of CDH-form characteristic for satellite DNA. © 2004 Bull. Georg. Acad. Sci.

HISTOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT OF SKIN GRAFTS PRESERVED IN NATURAL HONEY

Presented by Member of the Academy N. Javakhishvili, December 2, 2003

ABSTRACT. This study provides a description of the  histological changes occurring in rat skin grafts stored at 4°C in natural honey per 3, 7, 14, 30 days. During the storage time changes were seen in all layers of the epidermis and dermis. The early features were nuclear and cellular swelling and pleomorphism. After 14 days nuclear and cellular shrinkage, halo formation and pyknosis became evident. The most worrying histological features were the development of dermo-epidermal blebs and their separation after 30 days of preservation. Along with the conservation term the destructive changes increase in the epidermis. Such histological changes can decrease the success of transplantation. © 2004 Bull. Georg. Acad. Sci.

Influence of the Personal Characteristics on the Development and Progression of the Arterial Hypertension and Ischemic Heart Disease

Presented by Member of the Academy  N. Tatishvili, February 4, 2004

ABSTRACT. Personal characteristics: types of fixated set (TFS), behaviour types and functional asymmetry at patients with arterial hypertension and ishemic heart disease (IHD) have been determined. The study of parameters show, that there is certain corellation between them. The change of causes statistically true increase the per cent index of behaviour types A1  and A2. The worsening of clinic condition is fixed more often in behaviour group I (A1 A2) compared with group II (AB, B1). It could be said that A1 A2 behaviour types and changing of TFS were those personal characteristics which cause worsening of clinic condition of patients.  © 2004 Bull. Georg. Acad. Sci.

Functional asymmetry was studied in 49 patients. The patients were divided into 3 groups: right-sided (D), left-sided (S) and D=S. The infra structure of the distribution of the behaviour types in different groups of the functional asymmetry has shown, that in right-sided (D) and in left-sided (S) groups there is prevalence of A2 behaviour type, in the group D=S AB behaviour type dominates.

Key words: ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension, type of fixated set, behaviour type, functional asymmetry.

Early treatment of  experimental hepatitis by Plaferon LB

Presented November 11, 2003

ABSTRACT. Plaferon LB (PLB) is an endogenic preparation received from human placenta. It possesses immunomodulatory, antioxidant and antitoxic activities. In the present study, the effect of PLB on experimental model - concanavalin A (Con A)-induced hepatitis was examined. PLB (0.25 mg/kg) inhibited  the ConA-induced elevation of alanine aminotransferase (AlAT) activity. Histological examination showed that at the last point of observation after PLB therapy generally the normal structure of the liver tissue was restored, the areas of destruction and necrosis were not characteristic. FACS investigation confirmed morphological study, that  demonstrated inhibition of the development of Con A-induced necrosis in the liver by PLB and in this group of mice the hepatocytes mainly died by apoptosis . Improvement of morphological changes took place against a background of high level of nitric oxide (NO). We speculate that elevation of NO is the result of intensification of constitutive NO under the influence of PLB. © 2004 Bull. Georg. Acad. Sci.

Impaired Phagocytic Function of Monocytes in B Cell Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia

Presented by Corr. Member of the Academy G. Tumanishvili, April 28, 2004

ABSTRACT. The ability of Fcg-receptors to bind to IgG affects the ability of the phagocyte to effectively eliminate opsonized pathogen. In this paper the phagocytic capacity of the monocytes from the patients with B cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (B-CLL) has been investigated. In vitro studies of the monocyte ability to engulf opsonized Staphylococcus aureus show that this function is significantly reduced and that the monocytes from B-CLL patients are unable to effectively phagocytose the bacterial particles.  © 2004 Bull. ESTIMATION OF EFFICIENCY OF DIFFERENT SHIELDING MATERIALS AT DECOMMISSIONING OF NUCLEAR REACTOR OF THE INSTITUE OF PHYSICS OF GEORGIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

Presented by Member of the Academy K. Nadareishvili, December 2003

ABSTRACT. After 28 years operation of nuclear research reactor IRT-M, Georgian Academy of Sciences  made decision to decommission  the reactor by means of its dismantling, but instead of this, the Institute of Physics made the decommissioning of the reactor by covering the  lower radioactive part of the  tank and in-tank units with concrete. The theoretical calculations of the efficiency of different shielding materials have been presented and the reasoning of using concrete is shown. The obtained results are interesting both theoretically and practically for decommissioning the similar exhausted nuclear reactors. © 2004 Bull. Georg. Acad. Sci.

On THE PROBLEM OF tax BURDEN and “shadow economy”

Presented by Corr. Member of the Academy V. Papava, February 10, 2004

ABSTRACT. Tax burden measured by the ratio of tax to GDP shows an aggregated impact of fiscal politics upon the change in business activity, though it does not completely reflect the volume of payments really rendered by economic agents. To meet the lack here we introduce the notion on tax burden, which connects official and unofficial sectors of the national economy and shows the scale of the complete “financial pressure” the private sector undergoes. It is applicable for evaluation of taxation policy disadvantages. It also allows to elaborate the measures for raising its efficiency in both post-communist and developed countries. © 2004 Bull.
