Self-Defective Electric Conductivity of ZnS Single Crystals

Presented by Academician J. Lominadze, July 4, 1996

ABSTRACT. We use radical-beam gettering epitaxy (RBGE) method combined with ion implantation by self-metal component to study self-defective electric conductivity of ZnS single crystals. We observe sharp dose dependence on conductivity implanted ZnS basic samples after traditional thermal method processing, opposite to treatment by RBGE. It is supposed that especially sharp increase of conductivity of samples implanted by high dose at T=300° C temperature is caused by creation of clusters of metal. In RGBE method creation of clusters does not take place because of extragation of Zn atoms from the substrate crystal. These suppositions were confirmed by photoluminescence spectra.

Sorption Properties of Bismuth, Antimony and Germanium towards Sodium Vapours

Presented February 24, 1997

ABSTRACT. In this paper results of experimental investigations of sorption properties of materials (bismuth, antimony, germanium) with lamellar-folded structure towards sodium vapours are represented. These materials serve as a basis for creation of the active sorption layer of multilayer sodium sensors and systems controlling impermeability of liquid-metallic contours.

It is shown that under identical conditions for bismuth, antimony and germanium the latter is characterized by its best sorption properties towards sodium vapours.

Inside the system "oriented monocrystal - sodium vapour" the fenomenon of anomalous anisotropic expansion of a matrix during the process of sodium atoms penetration in its structure is discovered.

New, so far unknown for chemistry, class of alkaline metals’ germanides M2Ge (where M - K, Na or Cs) is detected. It is supposed that they are a product of the low-temperature intercalation of alkaline metals’ atoms into the germanium’s lamellar structure.

Binary and Fuzzy Signal Processing Using the Connectivity Analysis

Presented by Academician N.Amaglobeli, October 19, 1996

ABSTRACT. The problem of designing of the reliable restoration units of the voting type under the redundancy of the information channels in technological control systems is solved by the use of the fuzzy connectivity analysis. New method for the restoration of output signals (binary and fuzzy, single-valued and vector) is suggested. The approach, as an alternative to the statistical one, avoids many problems which arise under the latter.

Change of the Order-Disorder Phase Transition Type in the Two-Component Ordering Alloys

Presented by Academician G.Kharadze, November 11, 1996

ABSTRACT. Two-component ordering alloys with a superstructure described by two long-range order parameters are considered. It is shown, that for some given values of the system's energy constants ratio p the concentration variation can alter the type of the order-disorder transition. Being discontinuous for some concentrations, this transition becomes continuous as the concentration reaches a specific value c° . The c° (p) dependence is obtained.

Electrostatic Discharge of Objects with Surface Resistance

Presented by Corr. Member of the Academy T.Sanadze, December 12, 1996

ABSTRACT. Electrostatic discharge of the body with different surface resistance is investigated. Influence of the surface resistance on the current in the arc and on the radiated by the body fields is studied. The problem is formulated in the terms of surface integral equation for magnetic field. The equation is solved by the Method of Moments in time domain. Results are given for spheroid with different surface impedances. It is shown that for some kind of distribution of surface impedance the level of radiation from electrostatic discharge can be reduced.

ABSTRACT. Semiannual variations (SAV) for critical frequency of F2 layer and for the rate of the solar zenith-angle have been discussed. It is demonstrated that f0F2 at constant zenith angle has SAV and these variations are strongly pronounced at solar maximum. It is shown that SAV of f0F2 at fixed zenith angle can be explained by peculiarities of the seasonal variations of the sun's angular rate.

On Restriction of Development of Tropical Cyclone through Preventive Selective Artificial Restratification of Instable Atmosphere-Ocean System

Presented by Academician B.Balavadze, January 8, 1997

ABSTRACT. The conditions of realization of proposed earlier conception of restriction of development of tropical cyclones into hurricanes are considered. The conception provides the preventive artificial restratification of coupled air-sea system within the selected strips of ocean. Corresponding approach is based on the assumption about the rigid dependence of the tropical cyclone movement on the ocean surface temperature field, at least, during the first stage of its life cycle. Such an approach is supported by analysis of numerous natural observations and allows to design directing of the tropical cyclone along desired trajectory through formation of one or more extended strips with comparatively low temperature. The restratification of coupled air-sea layer (marked by Welander type convective instability) through artificial generation of convective clouds in selected zones of ocean is envisaged. Preliminary consideration of the possible technical and economical conditions of the conception implementation is also presented.

ABSTRACT. The conditions of technology of conversion of nonferrous metals and waste of production of zinc white into zinc ammoniate with aqua ammonia and afterwards into zinc sulfide and barium hydroxide with barium sulfide have been studied.

Optimum conditions: 10-15 % aqua ammonia, temperature 20-300C, ratio solid/liquid = 2-2.5, duration 1-1.5 h, degree of zinc extraction under such conditions is 96-98%.

The reaction between aqua ammonia of zinc and barium sulfide takes place under normal pressure and temperature conditions and with high efficiency of end products. Source Strength Influence on Phosphorus Substances Content in Grapevine Leaves

Presented by Corr.Member of the Academy N.Nutsubidze, October 22, 1996

Abstract. The effect of partial defoliation and stem ringing on phosphorus substances content of grapevine variety Rkatsiteli was studied. Leaves have been collected on the 3rd day after defoliation and 5, 10 and 20 days after ringing in postflowering and berry growing phases. It turned out, that the partial defoliation results the increasing content of phosphorus forms in berries growing phase and is generally due to the age of leaves and plant vegetation phase. Under the stem ringing the decreasing of total and all forms of phosphorus maximum on the 10th day is observed.

Delay maximum in albino rats ranges within 15-20 sec. An increase of the food reward amount intensifies the animal's drive for the feeder, i.e. increases the signalling conditioned stimulus (SCS) motivational force, that has a positive effect on the delayed reaction performance and increases the delay maximum.

The Microcalorimetric Study of Thermodynamic Parameters of Collagen Melting in Diluted Water Solutions at Different Scanning Rates

Presented by Academician M.Zaalishvili, March 4, 1997

ABSTRACT. We study the partial heat capacity functions of the collagen in diluted water solutions at various heating rate: 0.125; 0.25; 0.5; 1.0; 2.0 K/min. Results indicate that for description the helix-coil transition in collagen solution it is necessary to undertake detailed kinetic analysis of this process. The linear correlation between entropy, enthalpy and heat capacity change, tabulated for globular proteins, completely distorted for collagen which indicates that the mechanism of stabilization of their structures is fundamentally different. It's suggested that water plays important role in the stability of triple helix of collagen.
