Scientific conference dedicated to the 950th anniversary of David Agmashenebeli

The National Academy of Sciences of Georgia hosted a scientific conference dedicated to the 950th anniversary of King David IV called Agmashenebeli – “King of Abkhazians, Kartvelians, Ranians, Kakhetians, Armenians, Sharvansha and Shahansha”, “Sword of the Messiah” . The conference was organized by the Academy of Sciences, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the National Committee of Historians of Georgia. Academician Roin Metrevel opened a very important scientific forum with the report “David Agmashenebeli – unifier of the Caucasus”. Interesting reports were presented by Academician Jaba Samushia (“The Art of War of the Age of David Agmashenebeli”), professors: Buba Kudava (“David Agmashenebeli – Missing Biography”), Mikhail Bakhtadze (“A Few Opinions on Consecrating King Again, XI-XII Centuries.”), Sergo Vardosanidze (“Church policy of David Agmashenebeli”) and doctor of historical sciences, numismatist Maia Pataridze (“Numismatic heritage of David Agmashenebeli”) .
It should be noted that the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia declared 2023 the year of the great Georgian politician, unifier of the Caucasus, St. David IV Agmashenebeli, which will be a great incentive for the Georgian society to widely celebrate this anniversary date.
