Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia and Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili opened the Biodiversa+ grant competition.

The Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia will be one of the partners and co-sponsors of the European Biodiversity Partnership (Biodiversa+) grant competition “Nature-based solutions (NBS) for biodiversity, human well-being and transformative change”.

At the meeting, the representatives of the Ministry and the European Biodiversity Partnership provided Georgian scientists with detailed information about the competition. Solomon Pavliashvili thanked the European partners for their assistance over the years and noted that based on their recommendations, the Georgian government has taken a number of positive steps in terms of biodiversity. Within the framework of the European Biodiversity Partnership (Biodiversa+) grant competition, scientists will conduct research in the field of biodiversity. In order to participate in the competition, it is necessary to create a consortium, where together with Georgian scientists, representatives of 2 European Union countries will be involved. At the first stage, the applications will be reviewed by the experts of the European Biodiversity Partnership, and at the next stage, the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture will be involved in the voting process. Submission of applications for the grant competition has already begun. In 2023, the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture became a member of the Biodiversa+ (European Biodiversity Partnership) partnership, co-funded by the European Union. The European Biodiversity Partnership seeks to encourage and coordinate the advancement of outstanding biodiversity research, public awareness and policy development.
