Meeting of the Center for Innovation and High Technology
- December 6, 2021
On 3 December 2021, at the meeting of the Centre, the Chairman of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring Giorgi Misheladze delivered a report: “Aspects of sustainable land use in Georgia”. It was stated that as a result of institutional reforms carried out in 2004, the State Agency for Land Management was abolished, and only the functions of registering land rights and land cadastre were transferred to the National Agency for Public Registry, as a result of which, in the subsequent period, the land balance of Georgia and statistics on the land fund were not compiled. In these conditions, the correct formation of land use and administration systems and a reasonable institutional delegation of powers is a big challenge. In response to this challenge, adoption of the Organic Law of Georgia on Agricultural Land Ownership and the law “On Determining the Designated use of land and Sustainable Management of Agricultural Lands was initiated. At the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring was established. The work done by the Agency has been positively assessed.
