Meeting of the Center for Innovation and High Technology
- January 28, 2022
On January 21, 2022, Academy member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences Vladimir Tsitsishvili presented a report entitled “Bactericidal zeolite adsorbents and ion exchangers” at the regular meeting of the Centre. He stated that the world is increasingly interested in disinfectants, especially in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. Research is being carried out to develop new antibacterial and antiviral substances. Along with liquid disinfectants, solid substances are also being developed, and zeolites enriched with biometals (silver, copper, etc.) are recognized as promising materials. Works in this direction are being carried out in the Laboratory for the Study of Physical and Chemical Processes of the Petre Melikishvili. Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry. The report proposed a simplified method for obtaining zeolites enriched with biomaterial, the possibility of producing effective bactericidal materials based on natural zeolites in Georgia, the content of biomaterial in the obtained materials, physical and chemical properties and bactericidal activity.
