Conference of the Commission for the Study of the Black Sea and Mediterranean Region’s Civilizations

On February 18, 2022, the Commission for the study of the Black Sea and Mediterranean region’s civilizations, at the Presidium of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, held an online conference on the Zoom platform, chaired by Academician Rismag Gordeziani. Doctor of Philology Tamar Meskhi delivered a report on the topic: “Komnenos of Trebizond and the Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem”. The speaker presented to the audience a Georgian translation of the testament compiled by a Trebizond monk Gerasim, in Greek dated November 18, 1344. The interdisciplinary nature of the report, the innovative nature of the methods and techniques used in the study, and scientific significance of the conclusions presented by the author were particularly appreciated at the meeting.
