Meeting of the Center for Innovation and High Technology
- June 14, 2022
On June 9, 2022, a meeting of the Center discussed a report delivered by the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Academician Solomon Pavliashvili on the topic: “Extended Producer Obligations”. The report noted that the Ministry actively works on the creation of an innovative waste management system and the implementation of related policies. In cooperation with the European Union, the Law of Georgia “Waste Management Code” was developed and approved, which provides for the gradual introduction of modern approaches and technologies for waste management in the country. One of the main problems is the dissemination of the principle of extended producer obligations under the Code, which is one of the key and most successful waste management models both in the EU Member States and in other developed countries.
