- June 23, 2022
The regular meeting of the Commission for the Study of National Issues was held at the Academy of Sciences, where the writer Jemal Davlianidze delivered a report entitled “The Cry of Stones in 21st-Century Georgia”. The issue concerned extremely painful and topical theme. In particular, the speaker noted that by the decision of the former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili the unique monument of the revered King David Aghmashenebeli canonized by the Georgian Orthodox Church, was transferred from the centre of Tbilisi to the entrance of the city. This insulting act against the Georgians was committed against the will of the Georgian people and the creator of this monument, the great sculptor Merab Berdzenishvili.
