On March 17, 2023, Director of the Institute of Entomology, Doctor of Biology, Professor of the Agrarian University of Georgia G. Japhoshvili delivered a report “Plant-damaging insects and regulation of their number by natural enemies” at the regular meeting of the Center for Innovation and High Technologies. The speaker noted that insect pests cause great damage to both agricultural and forest crops, as well as ornamental plants in urban areas. Therefore, the regulation of their numbers by environmentally friendly methods is of particular importance. Around ten species of agricultural and forest pests have been studied and the mechanisms for regulating their numbers have been established. More than 70 species new to science have been described, most of which are of particular importance in the regulation of pest numbers. In addition, such species are registered in Georgia that can be effectively used in regulating the number of various pests.
