Obtaining Biodiesel from Renewable Energy Sources in Georgia and Prospects
- March 28, 2023
March 23, 2023, a meeting of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies was held at the Academy, at which professors of the P.Melikishvili Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry, TSU and Ilia State University: Natela Khetsuriani and Kakha Karchkhadze delivered a report – “Obtaining Biodiesel from Renewable Energy Sources in Georgia and Prospects”. The most important mechanism for
improving the country’s ecological situation and developing energy-saving technologies of hydrocarbon origin is the use of non-traditional renewable energy sources. It is possible to produce biodiesel fuel from renewable energy sources – rapeseed and secondary edible oils, which will have a positive effect on the ecological and economic situation of the country and increase its energy independence. The launch of biodiesel production as an alternative, renewable, environmentally friendly fuel is very important for Georgia, which is almost completely dependent on the import of petroleum products. And biodiesel can successfully replace kerosene in diesel-powered vehicles without engine modification. The possibility of producing biodiesel from renewable energy sources in Georgia was studied.
