The Meeting of the Commission for Studying National Issues
- May 25, 2023
On May 16, 2023, Doctor of Phylosophy Teimuraz Pachulia delivered a report entitled “Philosophical Aspects of the Epistles of the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II” at a meeting of the Commission for studying national issues of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. Academician Elizbar Javelidze opened the session with an introductory speech. It was stated in the report that the epistles of Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia are noteworthy for their philosophical depth and breadth of vision of problems and represent a unique event in the history of the Apostolic Church of Georgia. These epistles consider current theological, ontological, metaphysical, axiological, cultural studies, anthropological, and ethical issues that are particularly pertinent in the contemporary day. The most remarkable thing is that the Patriarch not only disputes them, but also gives an extremely interesting way of resolving and regulating them, which will serve as a guide both for his spiritual children and for representatives of other faiths.
