Academician Elguja Khintibidze presented his paper “Georgian Contribution to European Civilisation. The pre Renaissance Nations’ Popular Novel – Georgian “Balavariani” at the session the of the Presidium of National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. In his presentation Academician Elguja Khintibidze stressed that the cultural route from the East to the West was at the same time the route for masterpieces of literature. One of the most vivid examples of this development is the story about Balavar and Iodasaaph based on
“Life Buddah”. Buddist, Muslim, Christian self-awareness processed it and preserved in numerous Oriental languages. Since 11th century it became the most popular opus among all European bibliophile nations.
