The Session of the Centre for Innovations and High Technologies

  • July 28, 2024

On 26th of July 2024 the cession of the Centre for Innovations and High Technologies was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. The report of Academic Doctor of Chemistry, Senior Scientist at Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University,  Rapiel  Agladze Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and Institute of Electric Chemistry Mrs. Elizaveta Tskhakaia “The Cleansing of Water from the Pharmaceutical Wastes by Sorbents, Received from the  Secondary Raw Material Containing Cellulose(nut and walnut shell, nectarine seeds etc.” was listened.  The speaker noticed that during the last time period the agencies regulating science along with Eurocommission (2000/60/EC) avowed, that pharmaceutical products are global environmental problem, because pandemic and necessary or out of control use of medicines, absence of infrastructure needed for proper management and recycling of pharmaceutical wastes caused increase of their amount, particularly in the water systems and soil. In spite of low level of concentration of these medicines in water they influence the health of animals and people(endocrine, hormonal, genetic irregularities etc.). This caused  anxiety of international community. The speaker said that the goal of research is to study the cheap, accessible absorbents and finding the economical and effective ways  of purification of  water from the pharmaceutical wastes.  During the last time period institute’s R. Dogonadze laboratory of the theoretical studies in its research activity most of all deals with the following topics: these are studying by means of original technology worked  out in the institute (patent P 2021 7309 B) of the physical and chemical traits of carbon materials  produced from secondary raw matters. Scientists also work on the clarification of their selectivity for cleansing environmental objects from various pollutants.
