On  29th of November, 2024 at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia the Session of the Centre for Information and High Technologies was held. The floor was given to Associated Professor at the  Georgian Technical University, the Dean of the Department of Transportation Systems and Engineering of Mechanics  Mr. Boris Gitolendia. He presented the paper “The Problems of Pollution of Environment Caused by the noise, produced by the urban vehicles and presented the ways of its solution”.

In his speech the presenter noted that pollution, caused by the noise of vehicles still is the significant challenge of modern urban environment. It makes trouble to the development of sustainable and effective transportation systems. Here Tbilisi is not exclusion. In the context of noise pollution Tbilisi was namely emphasized.

Noise is one of the most significant source of environmental acoustical pollution, because it influences very negatively human’s health, adaptation of animals to environment, delivery of information etc. Thus for today it is the ecological threat to the existence of life on the earth.

The speaker presented information in general on the issues of transport noise pollution, dealt with its gist and main reasons. He also evaluated strategies of mitigation of ongoing situation and modern approaches. Here he emphasized the EU Regulations, their role in the noise decrease policy making.
