
Session of Coordinative and Methodological Council of Medical and Biological Sciences

On the 7th of March 2025 the session of Coordinative and Methodological Council of Medical and Biological Sciences was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. The session considered following topic: “The Implantation of Auxiliary Device of the Left Ventricle to the Patient While the Terminal Stadium of the Heart Shortfall.” It must be noticed, that this is enormously interesting, the newest method. Its implementation will ease condition of numerous patients and prolong their lives. The heart shortfall (HF) is progressing syndrome, which can reach at last the terminal stadium, when traditional medication or interventional treatment can not secure sufficient clinical improvement. At this time the auxiliary devices of the left ventricle (LVADs)are effective possibility, practically the alternative of heart transplantation which improves the quality of life and indicators of saving of the patients suffering from terminal heart shortfall. LVAD is mechanic pump, which carries out the function of the left ventricle, or in other words encourages the expulsion of the blood into aorta and accordingly, into systemic circulation. Today the most popular auxiliary device (LVAD) for the left ventricle worldwide is Heart Mate 3. Its distinguished elements are improved use and decreased side effects. The speech was presented by Rusudan Agladze, Associated Professor at Davit Tvildiani Medical University, Head of Cardiological Department at Nodar Bokhua Cardiovascular Centre and Head of Cardiosurgical Department Professor Zaza Katistadze.
