The Presentation on the work of the Department on the National Language

On the 2nd of April 2025 at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia the Session of the Presidium was held. The floor was taken by the Chairman of the Department of the National Language, the Corresponding-Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia Giorgi Alibegashvili, who presented the speech: “The Department of the National Language and the Unified Programme (Strategy) for 2021-2030. As the speaker mentioned the status of National Language is determined by the Constitution of Georgia, whereas the Organic Law on National Language regulates the issue of functioning of Georgian language; the Department of National Language is obliged to present to the government of Georgia the Standards of the norms of Georgian literary language and terminological Standards in order to approve them; the Department is also obliged to carry out permanent monitoring the preservation of the norms of National Language, to reveal problems and find out the ways of their correction etc.
