Academician Paata Gugushvili – 120

A jubilee session was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia marking the 120th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Georgian scientist, public figure, and renowned economist, Academician Paata Gugushvili.

Academician Gugushvili’s contributions are especially significant in founding the first Georgian economic research center — the Institute of Economics of the Georgian Academy of Sciences — where he served as an unchanging director for 32 years. He played a major role in developing Georgian economic terminology and worked in this field for over half a century.

The “Terminology of Economics” published in 1947 was based on methodological principles developed by him.
