International Science Day
- November 11, 2025
The Georgian National Academy of Sciences traditionally celebrates the International Science Day established by UNESCO every year. This year, on November 10, the celebration of this day began with the ceremonial opening of the Science Museum. The museum was opened by the President of the Academy, Academician Roin Metreveli, and the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Givi Mikanadze. Academician Lia Melikishvili made a great contribution to the creation of the museum. The goal of the Academy’s museum is to revive the historical heritage of science and present it to the public. This space reflects the history of the Academy from its founding to the present day; its presidents, scientific departments, research institutes, photographic materials and memorabilia, banners of the Georgian Encyclopedia and the Rustaveli Committee, etc.
Established by UNESCO in 2001, the World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated annually on November 10 worldwide. This day was established as a result of the World Conference on Science, which was also held under the auspices of UNESCO in Budapest (Hungary) in 1999, by the International Union of Scientists.
