Meeting of the Centre for Innovation and High Technology
- October 13, 2019
On 27 September 2019, the Center discussed the report delivered by a member of the Engineering Academy of Georgia, Dr. Malkhaz Bediashvili: “Safe Seismic Insulation Systems and High Construction Works in Georgia”.
It was noted that over the centuries, earthquakes have destroyed lots of cultural monuments in our country and, unfortunately, it cannot be ruled out that destructions will occur in the future too. For almost a century, our researchers have been looking for methods that preserve the stability of buildings and ensure the safety of the population. Under the guidance and direct participation of the speaker, frame buildings were created for rural, and then urban, residential and industrial construction. Based on the experience of different countries, completely new systems have been created and used in Georgia, which divided the building into two parts: underground and aboveground. Seismic groundwater neutralization is neutralized by seismic impacts, while groundwater systems were used in previous years to achieve sustainability while reducing construction costs. The anti-vibration excavation method proposed by the speaker was also discussed.
Malkhaz Bediashvili has patented 19 inventions, won several major awards and received the gold medal of the exhibition.
