75th Anniversary of Academician Lavrenti Managadze

On 1 November 2019, a jubilee session dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Academician Lavrenti Managadze was held at the Georgian National Academy of Sciences. President of the Academy, Academician Giorgi Kvesitadze opened the session. The report entitled “Lavrenti Managadze and the Renaissance of Georgian Urology” was delivered by Professor Archil Chkhutua, the Chairman of the Commission on the Study of Current Affairs of Medicine in Georgia at the Presidium of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences. Other speakers were: Konstantine Kipiani – Head of Bokhua Cardiovascular Center, Amiran Gamkrelidze – Director of the Center for Disease Control, Teimuraz Chigogidze – Professor of the Department of Urology, Ivane Javakhishvili University, David Kochiashvili – Urology, Tbilisi State Medical University. The speakers emphasized Managadze’s contribution in the development of Georgian science, urology and the medical school as a whole. At the end of the evening, a documentary was shown about academician Lavrenti Managadze.
