Meeting of the Commission for Ecological Security
- November 14, 2019
On 13 November 2019, a regular meeting of the Commission for Ecological Security took place at the presidium of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences. The head of the Centre studying productive forces and natural resources of Georgia at the Technical University of Georgia, Doctor of Geology, Professor Emeritus Giorgi Maghalashvili delivered a report “The problem of the Vere River”. The problems related to the Vere River were discussed. It is noteworthy that although the Ortachala HPP on the one hand played a positive role in the power supply, it raised the level of the Mtkvari river and in some cases prevented the water from collecting freely. The coasts, on the other hand, have narrowed the riverbed, causing it to rise.
