Meeting of the Commission for Ecological Safety

On February 19, 2009, a meeting of the Commission on Ecological Safety was held at the Academy of Sciences. PhD  Archil Chirakadze delivered a report “Energy Approach to Pharmacology and Plant Protection”. A simple and outstanding mathematical model — the so-called isobol method — has been modified and used to quantify the synergistic effects of three insecticides against Asian parasites. The results inspire the researchers to develop more synergistic mixtures of isolated insecticides that have already been well studied using the isobole method and bunker in siloco experiments.

The Institute of Engineering Physics at the Georgian Technical University and Ivane Beritashvili Center for Experimental Biomedicine develop an innovative concept of combination local tumor treatment using special nanomaterials and liquid crystals. The results of the study provide the basis for the assumption that in the next 2-3 years Georgia will be able to develop highly effective pilot drugs for nanotechnology that will meet international requirements for preclinical trials and can serve as the basis for the industrial production of new generation nanoparticles in Georgia. ”
