Meeting of the Center for Innovation and High Technology
- March 21, 2021
On 19 March 2021, a regular meeting of the Center for Innovation and High Technologies at the Presidium of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences was held. It was dedicated to the problem of artificially increasing precipitation in the eastern part of the country. Representatives of the Institute of Hydrometeorology of the Georgian Technical University – Director of the Institute, Dr. Tengiz Tsintsadze and Dr. Naili Kapanadze delivered reports. The session was attended by members of the commission, leading scientists in the field, experts.
According to estimates, the applied method of influencing convection clouds allows to increase the seasonal precipitation by 10-15%. At the same time, the Institute conducts theoretical studies on the dynamics and microphysics of cloud-forming precipitation processes (N. Begalishvili, G. Robitashvili, etc.). Currently, the Georgian Technical University has a task to create a modern system for monitoring hydrometeorological processes in the country, as well as the resumption of pilot works in the Iori basin. Along with integrated water resources management issues, the possibility of replenishing these resources by artificially impacting on clouds will be developed. Deputy Chairman of the Center, Academician Ramaz Khurodze summed up the results of the meeting and expressed the general opinion that the repot was relevant and interesting. He thanked the speakers, as well as members of the Center and invited experts for active discussion and interesting proposals. The working group of the center was instructed to prepare recommendations for submission to government agencies within ten days.
