International Conference on Circular Economics

The fifth conference on circular economics was chaired by Solomon Pavliashvili, Academician of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, with the support of the Swedish government. The transition to a circular economy is extremely important for the country to be able to deal with such important challenges as sustainable development and rational use of resources, eradication of environmental pollution and mitigation of climate change. The circular economy consumes natural resources efficiently, maintaining their value through the circulation of materials and goods. In a circular economy, products are designed to be durable, to be able to be modernized, repaired, and reused; However, after decommissioning, it is is envisaged to reuse the materials. Consumers even use the goods to extend their lifespan. All this reduces the harmful effects of economic activities on the environment and human health.
