The meeting of the Coordination and Methodological Council of the Medical and Biological Sciences of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences and the Nuclear Energy and Radiation Safety Commission of the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences was held. The meeting was dedicated to the importance of proton therapy in the treatment of tumors. It was noted that Kutaisi International University is currently planning to install two colliders worth $ 40 million. Revaz Shanidze, Professor of Kutaisi International University, delivered a speech – “The Hadron Therapy Center at the Kutaisi International University “. Archil Chirakadze, Professor of Physics and Mathematics at the Andronikashvili Institute of Physics, presented a report – “Modern trends in increasing the biological effectiveness and safety of proton therapy”. Reports were also delivered by Professor Kakha Nuralidze and F. Natalia Jankarashvili, Doctor of Medicine, Head of the Radiation Oncology Department at the Todua Clinic, whose topic was “The use of proton therapy in the clinic.” Konstantine Mardaleishvili, Elza Vashakidze, Zurab Kheladze took an active part in the discussion of the reports. Academician Giorgi Japaridze noted that this meeting will be the beginning of a great work to be done simultaneously by doctors and physicists. Academician Ramaz Khetsuriani attached special importance to the future work and noted that the Academy is ready to support the leadership of Kutaisi International University and contribute to the organization of research laboratories, work planning or management.
