Meeting of the Commission for Complex Study of the Highland Issues

On July 7, 2022, a regular meeting of the Commission for Complex Study of the Highland Issues was held, at which proposals on amending the “Law of Georgia on the Development of Mountainous Regions” were presented. Academician Avtandil Arabuli, chairman of the Commission, delivered a report. The report presented visual data of the 6-year validity of the Law of Georgia “On the Development of Mountainous Regions” and their analysis. Based on this analysis, the Commission put forward a legislative proposal, according to which a differentiated approach should be introduced, taking into account hypsometric height (zonal differentiation). These amendments are accompanied by a number of other provisions, the consideration of which undoubtedly determines the effectiveness of the law. The event was attended by well-known politicians, active participants in the development and adoption of the above-mentioned law. It was decided to submit the proposals prepared by the Commission to the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia for further processing in the Law of Georgia “On the Development of Mountainous Regions”. The participants expressed their readiness to actively participate in the final preparation of the bill on amendments.
