Session of the Permanent Commission Studying National Issues

A meeting of the permanent commission studying national issues was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. The chairman of the commission, academician Elizbar Javelidze delivered an opening speech. Tamaz Bibiluri, the chairman of the “April 9 Society” and the international foundation “Akhali Tbilisi”, the editor of the “Samshoblo” newspaper, delivered a report entitled “Martqopi is Georgia’s salvation”. The heroism of the Martkopi fighters for the salvation of Kartli-Kakheti and entire Georgia was underlined. Tamaz Bibiluri presented to the audience an appeal addressed to journalists, human rights, humanitarian and charitable international organizations and foundations, Georgian communities abroad and all people of good will about the construction of the Lochini-Martkopi memorial complex in honor of the patriots who died in 1662 and the construction of a green city in the Martqopi valley. The speaker expressed his hope that the implementation of this project will become possible thanks to the specially created International Fund of Tamaz Bibiluri – “Akhali Tbilisi”. A discussion took place, in which academicians Georgy Kvesitadze, Ramaz Khurodze, Valeri Asatiani and others took part. As a result, it was decided to devote a scientific conference to this issue in the future.
