The National Academy of Sciences of Georgia hosted the conference of the National Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia on the theme of “Georgian School of Biophysical”. The ways that biophysics will evolve in Georgia, as well as current issues and future potential, were discussed. Academician Zurab Lomtatidze, President of the Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia, opened the conference. The General Advisor of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, academician Giorgi Kvesitadze, academician David Mikeladze, professors Paata Tushurauli, Zurab Zurabashvili, Omar Akhmetelashvili, and others delivered reports. The conference was dedicated to the memory of the distinguished Georgian scientist, educator and public figure Boris Lomsadze who founded the Department of Biophysics and the School of Biophysics at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, in connection with the 90th anniversary of his birth. Professor Nana Kotrikadze, head of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at the TSU, Professor Nana Kotrikadze delivered a report about Boris Lomsadze’s life and activity.
