Meeting of the Commission for Complex Study of Highland Issues

  • November 2, 2023

At a meeting of the Commission the current state of the historical and architectural complex of Shatili was discussed. The report “Architectural Complex of Shatili: State and Prospects” was presented by an engineer Vazha Chincharauli, who is well versed in this issue, as he himself is a resident of Shatili and one of the leaders of the restoration of the Shatili towers, which was carried out decades ago. The actual data and their qualified analysis clearly show the alarming situation that has developed around such a unique monument of Georgian cultural heritage as the Shatili architectural complex. The problem is complex and it is related, on the one hand, to the damage caused by natural processes in the years after the last restoration, and on the other hand, to domestic measures (water supply, sewerage…) that residents apply for during the operation of the towers.
