Today, when our country is on the most significant stages of its own, when Council of Europe made decision to confer upon Georgia the status of Candidate of EU membership what makes Georgia much more closer to the full bodied membership, the National Academy of Georgia established the Prize named after Mikheil Muskhlishvili in the field of political sciences.

Mikheil Muskhelishvili (Muskheli) was an expert on international law. President of the Association of European universityes, co-founder of  University Federation Union, Professor at Cairo and Strasbourg universities, President of the Congress of the European Nations(Peoples), Vice-President of International Centre of European Formation, Cavalier of the “Academic Palm.” In 1959 Mikheil Muskhelishvili established in Strasburg the “Muskheli Centre”(Centre for the Soviet and Eastern European Studies) and led it till the end of his life. Along with Gaston Stephan he set forth the idea of One Europe. Along with his like-minded persons he set up the project on constitution of Federal Europe. This project manifested the making of European Union and abolishing the frontiers between the European countries. He overtook too much his own time and dedicated numerous books to the idea of one Europe.
