The first meeting of the Presidents of the Academies of Sciences of the Black Sea Economic Co-operation Countries (BSEC)

Through the initiative of the Parliamentary Assembly of BESC the first meeting of the Academies of Sciences of member countries and the rectors of leading Turkish universities took place on 14th-15th of February in Istanbul. The meeting was participated by the PABSEC Deputy Chairman, the Head of Turkish delegation Fatikh Donez, the Secretary General Asaf Hajiev, the Secretary General’s First Deputy Merve Safa Kakachi delegations of Academies of Sciences of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, North Macedonia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and delegations of the Black Sea University network. The meeting was participated by delegation of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences led by the Academy President Mr. Roin Metreveli and Vice-President Mr. Ramaz Khurodze. The participant countries submitted broad information on the development of economy, education, science and technologies in their countries. They dealt with the perspectives of future co-operation. Information also covered innovations, researching centres for educational and scientific projects, implementation of formats of digital education, unrestricted access to database, involvement into the international educational and scientific programmes. It was mentioned, that co-operation of the Academies and universities from participation countries will encourage through joint efforts to solve efficiently the modern scientific and technical multidepartment tasks, which are determined and oriented on current acute problems.
The next BSEC countries Academy Presidents’ meeting will take place in the same format in 2025, in Turkey, under the aegis of Istanbul University and BSUN.
