A regular meeting of the Presidium was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, at which Academician Vladimir Papava made a presentation on topic “The Relationship between Economic Policy and Economics and Post-Communist Experience of Georgia”. As it was stated by the speaker, “a serious obstacle to the economic development of a country is its politicization. In fact, economic policy is an integral part of the state policy, so it is almost impossible to avoid “politicizing the economy”. The problem arises when the determining factor in the “politicization of the economy” is economic policy that is not based on the achievements of economic science. The main problem consists in the convergence of economic policy with economic science, which can be achieved only when economic policy makers will be highly qualified economists.
