Meeting of the Center for Innovation and High Technology

  • October 23, 2021

On 18 October, 2021, a meeting of the Center for Innovation and High Technologies was held at the Presidium of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences. Professor of the Free University Vakhtang Jandieri delivered a report on “Creating High-Performance High-Frequency 5G and 6G Millimeter Antennas Using Dielectric Structures”. The speaker noted that for the development of communication technologies, it is extremely important to create high-performance mobile and wireless devices that can transmit large amounts of information at high speeds. Service providers are developing fifth and sixth generation (5G and 6G) cellular networks to make network systems more flexible. It is proposed to use a periodic multilayer dielectric structure to improve the antenna performance. Such structures have the unique ability to localize the transmitted information (energy) only in a certain frequency range, their main advantage is that they have small losses in the range of 30 GHz to several terahertz required for 5G and 6G technologies. The developed method has shown optimistic results – it is about 40 times faster than widely used commercial programs today. And it is possible to select the parameters correctly in a short time and significantly improve the antenna characteristics.
