The Session of the Committee on Multidepartment Study of Georgian Highland

On 29th of February at the National Academy of Georgia the regular session of the Committee on the Multidepartment  Study of Georgian Highland was held. The floor was taken by the member of above mentioned Committee, Doctor of Economy, Senior Scientist of the Centre on Productive Forces and Natural Resources  at Georgian Technical University, Professor Nodar Grdzelishvili,  who presented  paper: “The Modern Sustainable Tendencies of Development of Oni and Dusheti Municipalities.” The speaker spoke about current  socio-economic and ecological processes and challenges, problems in tourism and agrarian sector in abovementioned municipalities and tools to solve these problems and foster their development. He also mentioned, that ecological development of highland municipalities needs multidepartment approach. This processes must be participated by the central government and regional municipalities as well. The activity of business sector in this field is very important too as an involvement of local population. The speaker noticed, that municipal services and their diversification must be taken into account.. Therefore the minimal  state standards of municipal services must be determined and  framework of policy and procedures must be worked out.
