The project “Prognosing Natural Catastrophes and Innovative Measures for Risk Reduction” worked out by means of the financial support of 2022-2023 “Participation Programme” of UNESCO

Concerning this project the session of the Committee on Studying the Scientific Problems of Natural Catastrophes was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. The floor was taken by Academician Givi Gavardashvili. This issue became topical after well known Shovi tragedy. The following types of scientific results were considered: evaluation of risks of vulnerable infrastructures by using critical condition and critical analyses portfolio risk assessment(CAPRA) model; the control of downpour by means of innovative anti downpour elastic barrage; prognosing natural catastrophe and innovative techniques of risk reduction; the anti avalanche innovative construction and its use in practice; security of population of town of Kvareli in case of floods and downpour; safety of Jvarboseli village population (Mtatusheti, Akhmeta municipality) from erosive and downpour processes; safety of the town of Telavi population from floods and downpour.
